Laena Karnstedt MD

Dr. Laena Karnstedt is a board-certified internal medicine physician in practice at Lanier Adult Medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine in 1991, and went on to complete her internship in internal medicine in 1992.
 
After completing  an externship in outpatient internal medicine in Waltham, MA in 1993, Dr.Karnstedt performed her residency at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston.
 
Dr. Karnstedt has been licensed in Georgia to practice medicine since 1995 and is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Women's Association.  She has a special interest in women's issues and increasing physicians and patients awareness of mental health issues.

Dr. Karnstedt received the Northeast Georgia chapter of The American Heart Association's Physician of the Year Award in 2008 for her work to promote women's health issues. She is also a founding member of WomenSource with a mission of creating personal and professional success for women of all ages and backgrounds in Northeast Georgia.
